Hey everyone! My name is Riddhi Kothari and I am passionate about cooking new dishes which are easy, quick, and healthy too.
By reading the title you all must be shocked, how can one eat and drink a hot and sweet cuppa, right?! Let me tell you that it is possible and as I was searching for some ancient sweet drink, as we already know some popular hot drinks but I wanted to make a traditional hot drink as many of us don’t exactly know whether these kinds of hot drinks are existing or not! So surprisingly, I came across this hot and sweet drink which is named “Tragacanth Gum Raab” or “Goon Ki Raab”. This is a traditional sweet drink which you can eat too.
These tragacanth gums make our bones strong and in all this Cuppa is very best to have in the morning. These gums prevent heart strokes and are also very beneficial for pregnant women as it strengthens their bones. It also helps to reduce your weight. This hot cuppa has in it a very interesting ingredient which is the freshly grated coconut which really tastes good in it.
This is a typical “marwadi dish” which is really famous and my mom makes this hot drink which we can eat and drink as well in breakfast. The punch of almonds makes it richer and the crunch of these really makes the dish yummier to have.
And I was really excited to share this easy-pizzy recipe with you guys so you can make this at your home and enjoy it. So without wasting any time let’s get into the recipe quickly.
Servings: 3
Cooking time: 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
½ cup of Tragacanth gums
½ cup of grated coconut
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 cups of water
2 tablespoon of desi ghee
7-8 chopped almonds
HOW TO MAKE THIS DELIGHTFUL HOT DRINK?
First of all, take out one vessel and put it on a low flame, and pour the ghee in it. After the ghee completely gets heated, put the tragacanth gums in it and wait till they pop up and become completely light and transparent.
Then, remove them from the plate and keep them aside. In the same vessel, pour the water and bring it to boil, and add the popped gums in it.
Furthermore, add the grated coconut and the sugar in the vessel and let it boil until it slightly thickens up.
Finally, put all the chopped almonds and serve hot!
NOTE:
There are many types of gums, and what I have used is the “katira” which is called as tragacanth gums in English. Also, make sure that these gums are dried properly in the sun otherwise the gums won’t pop up when you will put it in the ghee.
