You can have it for breakfast as it helps you to have good nutrients and also helps you to get through the hassles. Not just this, this steamed egg pudding is an ideal solid for babies since it is quite soft and hardly requires chewing.
And if you want to impress your guests and family member during parties, try out this recipe. You would never believe how easy and simple it actually is until you have made it. So, what are you waiting for?
Ingredients and their proportions:
• Eggs 4
• Fresh milk 500ml or 2 cups
• Sugar 120 gram
• Water ½ cup or 125ml
Instructions to follow for making Chinese steamed egg pudding:
First things first. Prepare, as well as measure, all the ingredients properly.
Over low heat, boil water and sugar until the sugar gets dissolved. Stir occasionally.
Turn off the flame once the sugar gets dissolved. After that add the milk and remove it from the heat quickly. Keep it aside as this help it to cool down.
Beat the eggs thoroughly; however, gently with the help of a fork. Never ever use an electric mixer since this would create way too many bubbles or foams that would prevent the pudding surface from being smooth.
To the milk mixture add the beaten eggs
Mix everything well.
Using a sieve strain your egg mixture as this helps in removing bubbles that are formed while mixing.
Pour your egg mixture gently into the steaming bowls in order to avoid creating any bubbles or foams.
If you find small bubbles on the surface of the mixture, use a spoon for removing them.
Tightly cover the bowls using a foil or cling wrap.
Meanwhile, prepare your steamer simply by boiling the water.
Time for placing the steaming bowls onto your steamer.
Cover the steamer and on a medium-high flame, steam them for about 12 minutes or until your egg pudding is set. Lift the lid every 4 minutes while steaming and let some steam escape.
Voila. Your silky-smooth Chinese egg pudding is ready to be served. You can serve it cold or hot, either way, it will taste great.
Important notes:
Make certain to strain, as well as remove bubbles or foams from the egg mixture’s surface right before you steam it. Or else there will be holes on the pudding’s surface and that won’t look nice at all.
Prepare this dish on medium-high heat for keeping an adequate amount of steam inside the steamer while steaming.
Make sure that the ratio of milk and egg is right. Or else your steamed egg pudding would become too soft or too hard.
The ultimate trick to making a smooth steamed egg pudding is to cover your steaming bowl securely with cling wrap/foil and then steam.
Never steam too long otherwise the eggs would be overcooked and will become tough.
